Epple Bay

Small sandy bay at Birchington-on-Sea, flanked by slipways. North-facing, with the village's cafés just over a kilometre inland.

What the tide does here

At a spring high tide only about 17% of Epple Bay is out of the water. By spring low the sea has drawn back roughly 380 metres, uncovering 58% of it — about 55 hectares of sand.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome on the beach at any time, all year. The council asks for dogs to be kept on a lead on the promenade.

This beach is not a designated bathing water, so the Environment Agency does not sample it.
