New Romney · South Kent · sand and shingle
East-facing sand-and-shingle beach on the edge of Dungeness. Has its own car park, toilets and a fish bar, close to Dungeness Nature Reserve.
At a spring high tide only about 15% of Greatstone Beach is out of the water. By spring low the sea has drawn back roughly 900 metres, uncovering all of it — about 209 hectares of sand and shingle.
Dogs are welcome on the beach all year. The council lifted the summer ban in August 2025.
This beach is not a designated bathing water, so the Environment Agency does not sample it.
No RNLI lifeguard patrol here.
No facilities recorded at this beach.
