South-facing shingle beach at Samphire Hoe, the country park made from Channel Tunnel spoil beneath Abbot's Cliff. Limited facilities on site.
At a spring high tide about 56% of Samphire Hoe is out of the water. By spring low the sea has drawn back roughly 100 metres, uncovering 93% of it — about 37 hectares of shingle.
We haven't been able to confirm the dog rules for this beach with the council. Please check local signs.
This beach is not a designated bathing water, so the Environment Agency does not sample it.
