East-facing shingle beach at Walmer, close to Walmer Castle. Car parks and toilets along the front, with cafés up in the village.
At a spring high tide about 73% of Walmer Beach is out of the water. By spring low the sea has drawn back roughly 40 metres, uncovering 94% of it — about 55 hectares of shingle.
There are no dog restrictions on the beach. Dogs must be on a lead on Walmer Green, by The Strand, from 9am to 6pm between 1 May and 30 September.
This beach is not a designated bathing water, so the Environment Agency does not sample it.
